I specialise in highly detailed, realistic coloured pencil portraits of pets and wildlife. Although I have always been an artist, I have only began fulfilling commissions and managing my pet portrait business in the last year. In this time I have had the honour of drawing many beloved animals, meeting wonderful clients and often their furry best friends, and connecting with and learning from fellow artists.
My love for art began at a young age and has always been apart of my life. Although I studied Fine Art at Falmouth University, I specialised in sculpture and installation. After leaving university I became unwell with a venous disease that affected my spine and led to a chronic pain condition, and lost touch with art for a few years while other priorities took over.
I began my coloured pencil journey a year ago by drawing my own Labrador, Alfie, as a way to keep occupied during recovery from one of many back operations. I fell in love with the time-consuming and mindful process of coloured pencils, and began to draw for family and friends. After setting up an instagram account to track the progress of my drawing I began to get requests from friends of friends and it has grown from there into a business that I love, combining my love for art and animals.
All of my pet portraits are created with only the highest quality artist materials to ensure your drawing will last a lifetime. I strive to create beautiful drawings that uniquely capture your pet’s likeness and bring them to life on paper. My goal is not to simply copy a photograph but to transcend it, whether that be improving upon details and colours from an old photo, combining aspects from multiple photos or in highlighting the subject's unique characteristics.
